Friends of Mackenzie Art Contest

The Friends of MacKenzie, a group of over 200 members and volunteers supporting the environmental education efforts of the Wisconsin DNR’s MacKenzie Environmental Education Center, announces an art contest for Wisconsin students in grades Pre-K through 12.

We ask students to submit original works of art promoting and emphasizing our state’s wildlife and landscapes. Artwork may be submitted in three different mediums - paint, pencil, and photography. Photographs should be taken with a standard camera or a phone; no trail camera photos will be accepted.

All submitted work will be judged by a group of active and retired art teachers. First, second, and third place winners will be determined for each medium in three different age categories: elementary school level (grades Pre-K through 5), middle school level (grades 6-8), and high school level (grades 9-12).

Elementary Level (Grades Pre-K - 5)

Middle School Level (Grades 6-8)

High School (Grades 9-12)

Each age group and each category will be awarded ‘Artist of the Year’ designation and have their artwork displayed on the Friends of MacKenzie website. A list of the winning artists will be posted at the MacKenzie Environmental Education Center located outside of Poynette, Wisconsin.

Please submit all artwork by email to [email protected]. Artwork should be submitted in jpeg format and be received by February 28, 2019. Include the student’s name, address, phone number, school name, grade level, and email address (if appropriate).

Each student should submit only one piece of artwork. Artwork can be viewed on the Friends of MacKenzie website: friendsofmackenzie.org.

Any additional information may be acquired by contacting the Friends of MacKenzie at the email address listed above.

Note: a new category of ‘Other’ has been added to the Art Contest. This could include any art form other than paint, pencil, or photography.
