I have been a member of the Friends of Mackenzie since 2016 and recently elected to the Board of Friends. I participate at the Center by conducting Maple education tours, working at the Maple Fest, and helping with various maintenance tasks around the property.
I would describe myself as an adventurist and spending time at the Mackenzie Center is a natural fit for me. My childhood was spent in a wooded area near Westport, WI along the north shore of Lake Mendota long before Madison development reached that area. As a youth, my time was filled with long days in the woods. I became known as the kid who helped abandoned or hurt animals back to health, and released them back into the wild. Throughout my life, I have spent countless hours at the Center; now I watch my four children and 12 grandchildren enjoy the Center. My desire is to pass on this passion for the outdoors.
I have participated with Ducks Unlimited and served as a Hunter Safety Instructor. Along with serving on several other Non-Profit Boards, I have operated several businesses including 20+ years as Owner/Broker of Martinson Real Estate, LLC. If that wasn’t enough, my other interests are flying airplanes, woodworking, fishing and other adventure filled activities. I am honored to work alongside highly passionate people who have shown the ultimate commitment- volunteerism to the Mackenzie Center and its users.
