The first year I worked as a volunteer was 2000.  I saw an ad for volunteers in the newspaper and thought it sounded like a fun thing to do.  It was then and still is!  After volunteering for awhile, it just seemed natural to join the Friends and support the organization.  I mostly volunteer with the maple program as an interpreter showing how pioneers may have gathered sap and processed it into sugar and syrup using a series of iron kettles.  I have also helped at Fall Festival.  What I most enjoy about volunteering and being a Friends’ member is working with school kids in the maple education program and with the public at Maple Fest.
