DESCRIPTION:A Master Gardener group of 10 – 12 will be coming to MacKenzie on March 27 at 5:00 pm to trim the orchard trees. Following the trimming\, the group will meeting in the Badger Den for a presentation on trimming by former DNR Forester\, Jim Bernett. \nThe group will park along the Administration road and are to wear appropriate personal protective equipment. \nIf you are interested\, feel free to come that day and join the group!

We now have an open storage bay and plan on storing a good supply of softwood for the fires at the interpretation stations. We are also planning a project to add on another storage bay to house the kindling box and soft wood (once the ground thaws); more on that later.\n\nThere will be work days on three consecutive Fridays — Feb. 23\, March 2nd & 9th — from 9:00 am to noon\, meeting at the finishing house. For each work day we will look for 2-3 qualified chainsaw operators and 4 – 5 others for loading and driving the dump trailer. We can adjust the schedule for work days that are reasonably comfortable\, say with mid-day temps predicted in at least the low 30’s. The Center’s removal plan with staff members is well underway.\n \nWe are asking for volunteer help – scheduling two work days; Tuesday 11/28 and Friday 12/1\, meeting at the Finishing House at 9:00AM.
