As we explore and observe the animals\, we will learn about their unique adaptations that help them survive in Wisconsin. \nPlease meet the naturalist in the Badger Den parking lot to begin the tour. The tours will be an hour long\, with two sessions taking place. The first tour will begin promptly at 11 a.m.\, and the second will start at noon. The wildlife area has paved walking trails and is entirely outdoors\, so please dress for the weather and bring plenty of water and sun protection. \n\nTour 1: 11 a.m. – noon\nTour 2: Noon – 1 p.m.\n\nRegistration is required for this event to limit the number of people in the wildlife area at one time. SUMMARY:Invasive Species Awareness Day
DESCRIPTION:Invasive Species Awareness Day\nSaturday\, June 22\, 2024\n10 a.m. – noon\nJoin MacKenzie naturalists for this invasive species education and eradication event. Starting at 10 a.m.\, MacKenzie naturalists will host an invasive species education program that will focus on the magnitude and impact invasive buckthorn and garlic mustard have on our natural habitats. We will also teach important techniques and skills on how to slow their spread and be part of the solution at home. We will then put everything we have learned into action. Following the education program\, our eradication event at 10:45 a.m. will focus on giving hands-on experience pulling garlic mustard to help preserve the natural habitats found at the MacKenzie Center. Please meet naturalists in the Badger Den parking lot (the first parking set of parking lots on the left side). All ages and experience levels are welcome to attend. Participants are advised to wear long sleeves\, pants and sturdy closed-toed shoes. Please bring plenty of sunscreen and water; there are water refill stations available on the property. There will be a limited amount of work gloves available to borrow\, but participants are encouraged to bring their own.

Gift shop\, concessions and local Wisconsin maple syrup will be available. Quilt raffle at noon. \nThis event is free and open to the public\, and you do not need a state park sticker to attend. \nNote: There will not be a pancake breakfast this year.
