SUMMARY:Friends of MacKenzie Fall Festival
DESCRIPTION:Come enjoy the beauty of fall at the MacKenzie Center.  This family friendly event will give you a chance to participate in some of the many activities available at MacKenzie including archery\, air guns\, compass skills and geocaching\, wildlife tours\, fire building\, hiking\, and studying the plant and critter life in our pond.  In addition you can learn about (and touch) real furs and skulls\, cut a “wood cookie” using a two-person crosscut saw\, make leaf and wildlife track pressings and try other crafts.  Come in costume (if you like) and participate in some of our seasonal activities — pumpkin painting\, a hay bale maze\, gunny sack races\, face painting\, scarecrow making\, hayrides\, and more!  The Rio HS Band plays at 11 am and the Prairie Thunder Cloggers dance at 1 pm.  The $10/vehicle admission covers all activities.  Food and gift shop items will be available at an additional cost.  Come for an hour or plan to stay all day\, there’s something for everyone!  All proceeds stay at the MacKenzie Center to support the facility and its programs!

SUMMARY:Learn to Teach Geocaching
DESCRIPTION:We’re looking for volunteers to help with educational programs at the MacKenzie Center.  If you love kids and nature\, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.  By attending this session you’ll learn the curriculum the MacKenzie Center staff has developed to help kids use GPS units and try geocaching.  Then you can help when a group visits MacKenzie and is interested in this program.  If you can’t attend the training\, but are interested email Chris Tall to arrange a separate training.  Training to teach Pond Study (August 22\, 10 am – noon)\, Wildlife Tours and Museum Tours (August 24\, 9 am – noon)\, and Survival Skills — Shelter and Fire Building (August 24\, 1 – 3 pm) is also available.

SUMMARY:Friends Volunteer Picnic
DESCRIPTION:The annual Friends of MacKenzie Volunteer picnic will be held in the picnic pavilion at the MacKenzie Center on Sunday\, August 21.  All members\, volunteers\, staff\, spouses and/or guests are welcome.  Meet at noon for conversation and refreshments.  Lunch will be served at 12:30 pm.  The Friends will provide brats\, hamburgers\, chicken\, water\, soda\, adult beverages\, and eating utensils.  Please bring a dish to pass based on your last name:  A-G appetizer\, H-M dessert\, N-Z salad.  Please RSVP to Don Lucke (920-992-3999\, 920-988-3914 or heartshare@centurytel.net) by August 15.  Hoping for a great turnout!

DESCRIPTION:Friends and MacKenzie Volunteers\, \n\nSteven has located some downed oak tree(s) that we could help with bucking up and moving to the splitting area. We could use two or three volunteers with gear and chain saws and folks to help load out what we get cut.\n\nLets go for a cool morning this coming Friday the 29th – meet at the finishing house at 8:30 am and we will keep the work day to two or three hours.\n\nPlease reply to me and indicate if you plan on joining and if you are bringing a chain saw.
