Wood Clearing Work Day
March 2, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
MacKenzie Friends and Volunteers,
Steven has asked for help clearing a bunch of downed hazard trees around the Maple area and along the trails (all before Maple Fest). The plan is to buck up both hard and soft wood and load most of it to the splitting area and leave some near the sap cooker in the wood storage bays. We now have an open storage bay and plan on storing a good supply of softwood for the fires at the interpretation stations. We are also planning a project to add on another storage bay to house the kindling box and soft wood (once the ground thaws); more on that later.
There will be work days on three consecutive Fridays — Feb. 23, March 2nd & 9th — from 9:00 am to noon, meeting at the finishing house. For each work day we will look for 2-3 qualified chainsaw operators and 4 – 5 others for loading and driving the dump trailer. We can adjust the schedule for work days that are reasonably comfortable, say with mid-day temps predicted in at least the low 30’s. Lunch can be by group consensus.
With this in mind, please respond to Don Lucke ([email protected] or 920-992-3999 letting him know what days you are interested in helping and he will have your name to confirm (or contact you) by at least the day before.
Thanks for all you at MacKenzie.
