Some events are annual and some are ongoing. We also have opportunities for groups and families too! Contact us for more information if interested.

Types of volunteers:

 

Developing educational materials and assisting educators:

Conducting outdoor skills workshops: Friends of MacKenzie provide breakfast items, coffee, soft drinks, and lunch. Volunteers design the menu, purchase the food, prepare the food, serve the food, and clean up after meals. Coordinators and workers are in great need in this area.

Maintenance of trails, exhibits and facilities. This includes:

  • Clearing trails
  • Restoring native prairies
  • Controlling invasive plants
  • Cutting and splitting wood
  • Building repairs

Fundraising:Volunteers coordinate the Maple Fest and Haunted Hay Ride by securing volunteers to man stations, provide support services, coordinate advertising, and clean-up.

Special events

Maple Education Program. This includes:

  • Leading maple education tours
  • Collecting sap
  • Making syrup
  • And more!

Annual Maple Festival: This one day event needs coordinators and volunteers to park patrons, lead education tours, cook pancake breakfast, collect for meal tickets, set-up and clean-up.

Haunted Hay Ride: Many volunteers are needed to make this event a success. This event runs Friday and Saturday night. Volunteers are needed for scare stations, parking attendants, ticket sales, hay wagon drivers, kitchen help, bonfire help, set-up and clean-up, and coordination of this event.
